Who we are

Audio Transcript (https://audiotranscript.net) is run by Carl, an independent developer based in the US. Questions about this policy or your data: support@audiotranscript.net.

What we collect

• The audio or video files you upload, and the transcripts made from them.
• An anonymous cookie called aid (a random ID) that keeps your uploads and results together in your browser.
• A hash of basic device details (browser, language, screen size, time zone) and your IP address. We use these only to enforce the daily free limit and to stop abuse.
• If you sign in: the name, email address and account ID of your Google account. We do not get your Google password.
• If you pay: Waffo Pancake handles the payment. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of each order: which file, the amount, the time and its status (paid, refunded).

Who handles your data

• Cloudflare: runs the site and stores uploaded files and transcripts.
• Soniox: transcribes the audio. We give it a short-lived link to the file; it returns the text.
• Google: sign-in, if you choose to sign in.
• Waffo Pancake: payments, as merchant of record.

We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

How long we keep it

• Audio: deleted within 24 hours after transcription finishes.
• Full audio that is waiting for payment: at most 7 days, then deleted.
• Transcripts: 30 days if you are signed in, 24 hours if you are not.
• Copy at Soniox: deleted as soon as we have fetched the result.
• Usage records used for the free limit (IP address, device hash, cookie ID, or your account ID if you are signed in) are kept for up to 3 days, then deleted.
• Sign-in sessions: 30 days. Your account (email, name) and order records are kept until you ask us to delete them, except what we must keep for accounting.

Not used to train AI

Your audio and transcripts are never used to train AI — not by us, and not by Soniox, whose API terms exclude customer content from model training.

Your rights

You can ask us to delete your files, transcripts and account data at any time by writing to support@audiotranscript.net. We will confirm once it is done. You can also ask what we hold about you.

Cookies

We only set cookies that the service needs to work, all HttpOnly except the sign-in marker. No analytics or advertising cookies at this time.

• aid: a random ID that keeps your uploads and results together in your browser. Lasts one year.
• sid: your sign-in session. Only set if you sign in. Lasts 30 days, or until you sign out.
• at_li: a plain marker (not HttpOnly, contains no personal data) that tells the page you are signed in. Set and removed together with sid.
• at_oauth: a one-time value that protects the Google sign-in, deleted within 10 minutes.

Changes

If we change this policy, the new version appears on this page with a new effective date. This version is effective 2026-11-08. See also the Terms.
