Terms of Service

1. The service

Audio Transcript turns audio and video files into text transcripts with labeled speakers. It is operated by Carl, an independent developer based in the US. Files up to 5 hours are supported.

2. Free and paid use

• Free: the first 5 minutes of any file, with speakers, 3 files a day. A file shorter than 5 minutes is transcribed in full. Free use does not need an account. The daily limit counts a person once: by account if you are signed in, otherwise by the cookie, device hash and IP address described in the Privacy Policy. If our free capacity for the day is used up, free previews need a sign-in.
• Paid: $2.99 per file, for files up to 5 hours, one price per file. No subscription. Paying needs a Google sign-in. After payment the whole file is transcribed again and replaces the free preview, and SRT, VTT and DOCX export unlock for that file.
• Prices are shown before you pay. Payment is handled by Waffo Pancake.
• If a free transcription fails it does not count against your daily limit. Refunds are covered in the Refund Policy.

3. Your content

You keep all rights in the files and transcripts you upload. You are responsible for them, and you confirm that you have the right to upload them and have them transcribed, including the consent of the people who speak in them where the law requires it. You give us permission to process them only to provide the service. Audio is deleted within 24 hours. Transcripts are never used to train AI.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to upload or process:

• content that is illegal where you live or where we operate;
• private recordings of people who have not consented to being recorded or transcribed;
• content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights;
• anything meant to harass, defraud or harm others, or to attack or overload the service.

We may remove content, refuse a job, or suspend access to the service if we believe these rules are broken. To report misuse write to support@audiotranscript.net.

5. AI transcripts can be wrong

Transcripts are produced by automatic speech recognition and can contain mistakes: wrong words, missing words, wrong names, wrong punctuation, and wrong speaker labels. Speaker separation accurately separates 2–6 main speakers; short interjections and files with many speakers can be mislabeled or merged, and you can fix labels in the editor. Check anything important against the original recording. Do not rely on a transcript for legal, medical or safety decisions without checking it.

6. Limits of liability

The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, or lost profit, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the file the claim is about. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. Updated terms appear on this page with a new effective date, and continued use after a change means you accept it.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws that apply to the operator of the service, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Payments are handled by Waffo Pancake as merchant of record, and its own terms apply to the payment itself. Nothing in this section removes rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
